If you’re reading this, then I’m guessing that you are having a tough time finding a profitable niche. Sometimes I like to look at Ebay for niche inspiration. It is very easy to brainstorm niche ideas on Ebay and I will show you how simple it can be.
You will actually find more niche ideas than you can possibly imagine. Most importantly, your niches will be in topics that your visitors are buying products for.
I recommend that you grab a pen and paper to quickly write down ideas. You will have an information overload so write down key points so that you don’t forget them. Now let’s get going…
First, go to the Ebay homepage.
At the top, click “Shop by category.” This is what you will see…
You will immediately see about 40 niche ideas broken down by about 9 categories and subcategories. Take a quick look at all these topics to see if anything jumps out at you.
Don’t stop there, click on “See all categories” at the bottom right.
Ebay will now show you an alphabetical list of categories with dozens of subcategories. I recommend starting with “A” the top and scrolling all the way to “Z.” Write down any niches that are of interest to you.
Just by scrolling from “A” to “Z” you will see over a thousand categories and subcategories that you can use for inspiration.
You will have a ton of niche ideas from this page but we can narrow our searches even more…
Select any of the subcategories to get more possible niches. I will show you by picking the very first subcategory listing, under “Antiques” click on “Antiquities.”
You will see that Ebay narrows subcategories down even further. On the left sidebar and center you see more possible niche ideas under “Antiquities.” You can literally do this for every subcategory.
From this page, scroll down and you will see “Items for Antiquities.” These are all items that are currently being sold. You can either use these items to explore other niches or use as products to promote within your niche.
Now let’s explore more possible niches. Click on “Refine results.”
On the top under the search bar you will see a list of more possible niche ideas. On the left you will see more ideas with the number of listings for each subcategory.
For now let’s look at the first idea on the top under the search bar. Click on “pre columbian.”
If you look under the search bar you will see more ideas under “pre columbian.” If you decide that you want your niche to be Pre Columbian Antiquities then you can use this page to look for products to promote.
I have showed you a quick and powerful way to brainstorm niche ideas on Ebay. In just few minutes, you will come up with more niche possibilities than you can possibly imagine.
One thing that I like about this brainstorming technique is that it shows you products for categories that customers are actively buying. Each of these products will have a description that you can use as a starting point for writing your reviews.
While this technique will give you more possibilities than you can imagine, it is important to do more analysis. I don’t recommend that you start building your website right away. Instead pick at least 5 possible niches and compare them.
Also check out Internet Business Niches to help you decide which niche to use. Other things to keep in mind are:
- Who is my audience?
- What are my audience’s passions, problems, and interests?
- What are the money making solutions to my audience’s problems?
If you have any questions or comments, leave them below and I will get back to you.
